2016: Intro: Why Myth?
The Need for Myth making

In metaphysics/mythology the scientific paradigm of reality doesn't work, and it is
even more important  point out that it blocks understanding of non-physical reality.
You have to put aside the science to make your way in metaphysics/mythology,
because science is good only for understanding physical reality.
I view metaphysics as follows: The subject of ontology is the study of the categories
of things that exist or may exist in some domain. Ontology is the attempt to say
what entities exist. It is one's list of entities or concepts about entities, while one's
metaphysics is a theory about those entities. Metaphysics is closely related to religion,
art and mythology, and thus "depends on the subject" doing the metaphysics based
upon his/her own experiences, and not on some objective criteria upon which
science is based.

Isn't Mythology "dead"? Isn't it all just silly "fairy tales", stuff of the past when
there were no scientists to tell us what's "Reality" versus the falsehoods that
constituted all myths, and now that we have the "theory of everything" who
in his/her right mind would want to have anything to do with myths?
Science has already "buried God", demolished religion, and proved that myths
are all mere imaginations of foolish ignorant minds living in the past.

Keeping myth aside for the time being, let me recap the current state of the
science-religion conflict, which many are attempting to "unify", but is a flawed
attempt anyway without mythology and also in order to show how vital and
indispensable is myth making and mythology - study of myth.

Cacophony of the Unification Bandwagon, and the opposition
by the atheists/materialists.

Unification of science and religion is neither possible, nor is there any sense or purpose
to it. However, although reconciliation is possible but improbable because of the multiple
conflicts in the authoritative stances of the proponents of the divergent worldviews, the
divergent methodologies, assumptions, ontology and validity domains of the results.
Heck, you can't even reconcile (again no unification is possible in organized religions too)
the differences and conflicts between various organized religions (the latest figure I came
across for sects in Christianity is 41000).
Similarly, there seems to be no reconciliation possible in the two sects of scientists - one sect
that believes in evolution and the other that does not. Even there the hostility is extreme.
The continuing cacophony over how to unify religion and science seems to increase by the
day. This is of course being opposed and scorned by atheists/agnostics/materialists and
most scientists. They are smelling blood after the decline in the numbers of religiously
affiliated, and continue to oppose any unification/reconciliation so as to consolidate their
increasing foothold in the public mind. The educational system, where they are dominating,
seems secure to them but they are baffled by the results in the political sphere: even after
“evolution” being indoctrinated into young minds from the past few decades, people are still
distrustful of atheist/non-religious candidates for political office. I am quite sure that if all
the efforts made by the science teachers in schools all over the world to teach every child
“evolution” had actually succeeded even for a generation, by now Stephen Hawking would
have been the King of England, and Richard Dawkins the Prime Minister. Not sure which
scientist would be POTUS (Tyson?).
Jokes apart, what is even more frustrating to them is that although the STEM mantra has
crushed AH with ease (Arts and Humanities, even Philosophy has been dominated,
appropriated or dismissed as useless or “dead” as the Great Pope Hawking calls it) , it doesn’t
seem to be working in the political sphere. AH has been over-run by STEM because of both
economic reasons as well as lack of interest, talent and drive for the parent domain of inquiry
 - Philosophy ( as Socrates would have put it: money and Philosophy can't go together).
After having plundered the world's resources, the Socratic prophecy is confirmed: Western
society has become philosophically defunct, and has surrendered it's body and sold it's soul
(spirit long dead) to the commercial scientific enterprise.  The authority of scientists in all
spheres, except politics, is total. (Now the other laggard civilizations are trying to catch up
with the "developed" West and mostly mimicking blindly every thing that the West does.)

The domination and invasion of scientists into what should be clearly "humanities" is
almost complete. Science has become a totalitarian system, and that has happened
because scientists have not bothered to properly define (like the sophists) the proper
domain of science and it's limitations - and that's because it would limit their authority
and economic value.  Having tasted power, they want it all and absolutely
- you see.. power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
The dehumanization contract (the Devil's deal) - earlier with organized religions for
millennia, has now been taken over by Scientists. The last frontier for them is the
political space.

Although I have coined the term Material Fundamentalism, there are others who
have coined a different term SCIENTISM:
A belief (amounting to a ineffable religious fervor) that scientific knowledge provides
a necessary and sufficient (that is, complete) worldview that entails the reduction
of all reality, including human subjects to (mere) physical processes. ....From:
Challengers of Scientism Past and Present: William James and Marilynne Robinson

[Sidebar: When such material is presented, in almost all "conversations" or forums, and given
the choice to down-vote, I am given the thumbs down and status of "children" (Reddit forum)
by the pundits - the pseudo-intellectuals of the mass culture. I wish there were other
categories below the level of children, namely "fool" or "crackpot", I would feel even more
honored, LOL. Where there are moderators they either take days to post it, or simply make it
disappear many times.  (Huff Post). Or deleted and then (thankfully) duly informed (TED).]

So why is it that although almost every child on this planet has been taught evolution,
most of them end up not trusting atheists for political office? And even when many are
actually leaving the organized religion fold to declare themselves "Nones".
And even among the "Nones", most of them are not turning into atheists. The atheism
juggernaut which took off sharply after the Popes buckled under the "evidence", and then
even after getting a boost from Dawkins, Harris, Krauss etc. is now losing steam, and the
growth in their numbers is sharply slowing down. To keep their atheist religion alive they
have started setting up their own organizations, churches, communities and groups.
They are highly active in debate and discussion forums and much more abusive than the
theists. They work like an ant army, taking apart everything they can feed on, and carry
off the scalps and trophies to boast about.

Upset by these developments, the theists as well as those having their "faith" in both
science and religion are looking for a "unification". After the "Creation Science" misfire in
which they tried to shove in the ridiculous idea that "Creation is a science" (rather than a
Myth) and the not so successful ID, the typical formula that is being proposed is: all right
we concede to the evolution factology, but as a compromise accept that it is "God guided
evolution". To which the atheists say: nothing doing.
Amidst this, the scientists/atheists come across the GW and Climate Change issues, and the
religious extremists at last see their chance to spit in the faces of the scientists: the only
way GW and CC can be proven to be catastrophic is when an actual huge catastrophe takes
place, which it hasn't as yet, so it's technically an unpredictable extrapolation into the future.
You see, future extrapolation is far less acceptable and credible in such things as climate
than the past extrapolation of the idea of evolution. The other problem for the atheists is
that scientists are still clueless as to the origin of life, all experiments having failed to go
beyond amino acids ending up in tar. Besides that, they have not even proposed a plausible
principle by which amino acids come together to form a basic RNA/DNA chain.
So they have entered the Sophist's territory to fudge and obscure the issue by
manufacturing technical jargon like "emergence".
Much of this has also been exposed by writers such as Suzan Mazur in her books and
articles: the titles are interesting like "The Darwin Industry" and
"The Origin of Life Circus"

Coming back to the the question as to why despite all "evidence" and "facts" and
"emergence", the people at large are not turning towards atheist, "evolved" leaders?
In spite having been taught evolution at a young age, stuffed with scientific data and
technological dreams of colonizing the universe, why aren't voting people trusting
My thesis is that deep down, instinctively or intuitively, many people suspect that this
rosy evolutionary picture is flawed somehow. There is a visceral, gut feeling that there
is something wrong with this picture. And although rationally they can't pin point where
the flaw lies, they still intuitively and subconsciously reject the evolutionary story.

"No matter how clever the checkpoints of the tonal are, fact of the matter is that
the nagual surfaces. Its coming to the surface is always inadvertent, though.
The tonal's great art is to suppress any manifestation of the nagual in such a
manner that even if its presence should be the most obvious thing in the world,
it is unnoticeable.
On certain occasions, however, or under certain special circumstances, something
in the tonal itself becomes aware that there is more to us. It is like a voice that
comes from the depths, the voice of the nagual. You see, the totality of ourselves
is a natural condition which the tonal cannot obliterate altogether, and there are
moments, especially in the life of a warrior, when the totality becomes apparent.
At those moments one can surmise and assess what we really are.
I was concerned with those jolts you have had, because that is the way the
nagual surfaces.
At those moments the tonal becomes aware of the totality of oneself. It is always
a jolt because that awareness disrupts the lull. I call that awareness the totality
of the being that is going to die. " .... Carlos Castaneda (Tales of Power)

A person who reaches adulthood these days usually has the highest priority to make
a living - get a job, a career. That and the routines take up almost 80 to 90 percent of
their time. Those in academia, in philosophy, science or religion have their favorite
afflictions as well as constrains dictated by culture, ideology, job requirements etc.
They are bound by the rules, dogmas and pressures of the institutional framework in
which they work and draw their salary, which is threatened if they step out of line.
It's not surprising therefore that hardly anyone has the time and energy to take a
broader look at life outside survival/social requirements.
Most people therefore develop very quickly a fixed view of the world/reality from which
they do not deviate for the rest of their lives. Some do make (conversion?) a leap,
but again usually from one extreme to the other.
Very, very few have the drive to keep seeking, keep exploring, and in this age they are the
ones who are restless, dis-satisfied with the state of affairs and the extreme, conflicting
world-views they have been subjected to. They are the ones that feel that these world
views are flawed; whether that of religion - in which an all encompassing deity is dictating
everything, or that of science in which certain "laws" dictate everything.
They are the ones that have the feeling that there is something wrong with all the pictures
of God or evolution they have been shown - and they ask questions like; What the hell is
going on? Why are things so screwed up? Who or what is running the show? ..... until they
come across something that shocks them to the bone... and then some of them (again
very few) will start connecting the threads together.

IF you are such a "one", welcome to MYTHOLOGY101

from THE MATRIX (1999):
Morpheus: I imagine .. that right now you're feeling a bit like Alice
tumbling down the rabbit hole?
Neo: You could say that.
Morpheus: I can see it in your eyes. You have the look of a man who accepts
what he sees ... because he's expecting to wake up. Ironically, this is not far
from the truth. Do you believe in fate, Neo?
Neo: No.
Morpheus: Why not?
Neo: I don't like the idea that I'm not in control of my life.
Morpheus: I know exactly what you mean. Let me tell you why you're here.
You're here because you know something. What you know, you can't explain.
But you feel it. You felt it your entire life:
That there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what, but it's
there. But you feel it.
Like a splinter in your mind... driving you mad. It is this feeling that has
brought you to me...
You know what I am talking about?
Neo: The Matrix?
Morpheus: Do you want to know... what it is?
Neo nods
Morpheus: The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this
very room. You can see it when you look out your window.... or when you
turn on your television. (or browse the internet.. facebook). You can feel it
when you go to work ... when you go to church ( or working in the lab,
conducting experiments) ... when you pay your taxes. (that one especially)
It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes . to blind you
from the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Morpheus: That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else, you were born into
bondage ..born into a prison that you cannot smell or taste or touch. A prison
for your mind.
Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it
for yourself.
This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back.
You take the blue pill.... the story ends, you wake up in
your bed and believe ... whatever you want to believe.

You take the red pill .. you stay in Wonderland . and I show you how deep the
rabbit hole goes.
Remember..... all I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more.

“Myth is something of collective importance that has to be communicated.
Collectively we need myth to communicate who we are. The word myth comes
form the Greek word mythos – one of those un-translate-able Greek words – closely
means a spoken story or plot ( mythos ), the best way to understand it is how Plato
thought about mythos by opposing it with the term logos – meaning account.
The teller of a logos takes personal responsibility for what they say, but the
speaker of a mythos relays a traditional story – one that is handed down. A good way
to think about mythology comes from the Latin word trava – meaning – to hand over.
So literally a myth is a story that is handed down. The speaker does not take any
personal responsibility. So in a certain sense the myth is a fiction.
In the Greek world the myths were relayed traditionally by the Bards. The Bard was an
essential feature – a bond between Greek societies across the Greek world. One of the
results of a Bardic tradition was that Greek mythology became mutable – it changes.
The Bards can change the myth, control it, use the myth to promote different ideas and
aspects of what he is speaking about – who it is being told to – why it is being told
– what are the myth’s objectives.” TMS – Peter Meineck

"All societies have myths – a myth is particularly important as an explanatory
tool of pre-literate societies. Literate societies can draw on many forms of
explanation of the reality of the world – and a differentiation is made of the
various forms of explanation - psychological, theological, scientific, philosophical
– all sorts of categories of explanation – to try to account for how the world is,
what human life is, what are the causes of events. Myths are thus handed down
stories from generation to generation in an oral narrative - to discuss the natural
world, the nature of gods, the human condition - all of those big questions.
In a pre-literate culture myth must fulfill a bewildering array of many, many
functions - of cultural continuity - these tales convey a culture's mores - how
to instruct the following generations to behave or not to behave."
-TTC Elizabeth Vandiver

What is Myth?

Myths are stories, explanations, linguistic expressions about realities that are by nature

hidden: that is, they are not accessible to direct perception or observation, but are intuited

or synthesized or ‘seen’ or ‘dreamed’ and then given a form or explanation in language.

These are basically intangible realities that constitute of entities, forces, archetypes that

setup, control or affect our necessary or contingent conditions of existence as well as

interconnect the living entities, creatures of the world.

Here I am not basically talking about the rationally constructed or intuited concepts like

Justice,  Ethics, Morality etc, which are also intangible but have more to do with the essence

of reality, not so much as its temporal dynamics that myths deal with, although there are

myths dealing with these essences  too.

Since language itself is not reality but an attempt to model reality, what we have in any myth

is a very indirect expression of that aspect of reality that is hidden. Myth is thus twice morphed,

first by the synthesis process and then from that a linguistic, analytic construction is made.

Obviously then, another person who has been ‘handed down’ a myth will have to properly take

it as a fantastic story that needs to be explored personally in order for it to make meaningful

sense for that person.

"Inner motives spring from a deep source that is not made by consciousness
and is not under its control. In the mythology of earlier times, these forces
were called mana, or spirits, demons, and gods. They are as active today as
ever. If they go against us, then we say that it is just bad luck, or that
certain people are against us.
The one thing we refuse to admit is that we are dependent upon “powers”
that are beyond our control." ~Carl Jung;

The Process of Myth Making & Developing
- an analogy

As an analogy, let’s say that a person X takes a two dimensional mental snapshot of a 3D

landscape, say a mountain range and then describe this mental snapshot to someone say Y,

by using words. The best that Y can do is to construct a mental picture of that mountain

range like a sketch artist constructing the face of a criminal through the verbal descriptions

of an eye witness. He may do a poor job or a good job of it depending upon his interests,

capabilities, inclinations and will. This basic first version of myth that is handed down

through generations is the diachronic (traditional) linguistic aspect or the first dimension

of myth.

Mostly, one version becomes a static diachronic version of a myth or collection of related

myths, and that is when they become popular within a culture’s religion which has

appropriated the myths, and when the culture’s religion has become an organized and

institutionalized one – the unmistakable signs of which are 1) sacred scripture to teach

fixed beliefs based upon the diachronic version of their mythology 2) priestly class to

enforce those beliefs 3) physical structures for worship/congregation 4) rituals, rites,

 rigid codes of conduct.

Maybe somewhere down the line, for a committed explorer Z, just making a construct

without any direct experience is unsatisfactory to Z, and so let’s say this explorer takes

a journey to see the mountain range. If the explorer’s mind is limited to the culture

and its boundaries, Z is bound to land up at a not very different spot from which X took

a mental snapshot, and see the mountains a little differently, and although would mostly

agree with X, may add some details missed by X or give a slightly different linguistic

description. This slightly different version of the myth – the one in the present, and

although similar to the traditional one but with added perspective is the second

linguistic dimension of myth – the synchronic dimension. Here the myth gets morphed

into a new version - that may or may not be better than the traditional, diachronic version,

but the important thing is that if both versions remain in the culture, there is greater

potential for the  future morphology of the myth.

Now another culture living on the other side of the mountain range has a different account

of the same myth because of differences of cultural viewpoints as well as differences in

 their language-concept structure.

"Elements of a myth gain their meaning from the way they are combined and not
from their intrinsic value, the myths represents the mind that creates them, not
some external reality. Even different versions of a myth are not to be thought of
as fabrications of some true, authentic version, but as an essential aspect of the
structure of myth. On the contrary, different versions are part of the same myth
precisely because a myth is not reducible to a single uniform content, but is a
dynamic structure. Eventually all the versions of  a myth have to be taken into
consideration so as its structure can become apparent."
.............Levi Strauss.

Study of myth and experience of myth reveals how the human mind functions
especially as regard to the use of language.....Eudamoniac

Eventually one culture comes into contact with another culture and as the myths are either

co-related intellectually by someone or the dominating culture suppresses the version of

the other if a correlation process fails. If a correlation and consolidation is made by two

or more different diachronic and synchronic versions of the myth, this becomes the third

dimension of myth. Only in a correlation of three or more versions the co-relater can sense

the complete structure of the myth and its various dynamics, transmutations, morphology

and its significance in a merged or consolidated culture.

Unfortunately this consolidation fails to take place because the development of science which

deals only with external, tangible and measurable reality, suppresses and devalues all myths to

the point that the word 'myth' is commonly understood by almost everybody in the world as an

'imaginary fiction' or even delusions of ancients who had no real knowledge of the cosmos.

The meaning of this very important word has been so negatively morphed that it is used as

a synonym for ‘fairy tales’ and even ‘untruths’. Although it has not yet gone as far as to mean

‘outright lies’, it is fast approaching this stage, especially in the creation versus evolution debates

(or rather - verbal wars). Thus the evolutionists call the myths about creation as 1) mildly as

‘human imaginative inventions’ 2) moderately as ‘delusions’ 3) severely as ‘outright lies’ told

for controlling people.

The amusing thing in this process is that such people have generated a Mega Myth, and that is:

All Myths are necessarily false since there is no evidence for any myth. Of course, these people do

not recognize this statement itself as a myth but rather as a ‘self evident truth’. The funny thing

about self deception is that the persons afflicted by it never acknowledge it as such, and this

happens because the operating assumptions of such minds are hidden from the consciousness of

these people and so never recognized as assumptions but ‘self evident truths’ that need never be

questioned, and any one who questions them is considered to be a fool who is to be ridiculed for

not having acquired sufficient education, especially science.

Myth is opposed to science because it is generated by inner exploration of intangible, psychic

realities rather than the study of external objects. The problem occurs when scientists insist

that all phenomena, experiences etc. can be accounted for by material causes which through

the brain 'invent' these intangible 'hallucinations', and they therefore conclude that  there

are no inner realities - only effects of material causes.

"But this "inside" which modern rationalism is so eager to derive from "outside"
has an a-priori structure of its own that antedates all conscious experience.
It is quite impossible to concur how experience in the widest sense, or for that
matter, anything psychic could originate exclusively in the outside world.
The psyche is part of the innermost mystery of life, and has its own peculiar
structure and form like any other organism. Whether this psychic structure
and its elements, the archetypes, ever "originated" at all is a metaphysical
question and therefore unanswerable. The structure is something given,
the precondition that is found to be present in every case"..........C. G. Jung

Picasso has said that art is a lie that tells the truth. In distorting reality, art
lets us see truth that is not otherwise obvious - the same is true of myths.
Myths are a special kind of story that is closely linked to imagination as a
way of knowing. Myths capture and express realities that cannot be put
directly into words or shared in any other way. But what is common to all
humanity is awe and wonder. The resulting creation of myths give our
lives meaning and purpose, that is, experiencing awe and wonder and
creating myths are cause and effect. Myths allow us to communicate
about intangible realities that cannot be communicated
in any other way.
Myths are not literally true but they do not represent lies, untruths
or fantasies - myths are metaphorically true and often they are the
only way to communicate the truths (intangible) that they
represent....2006 Massey Lectures. The Ethical Imagination

The Myth of Creation

Creation is a myth, but it is an important myth because this myth in its various forms is found

in all primitive cultures. Myths are not fantasies or delusions but refer to those realities to

which humans have no direct access, and thus leave no evidence of their existence, except in

the minds of those who experience them and interpret them in whatever language is available.

When such myths are handed down to the social community, but the experience is no longer

available for whatever reasons, these tend to take the shape of religion - hard and fast beliefs.

It does not mean the myth has become irrelevant or untrue, it means a distortion is starting

 to take place.

In all creation myths there are stories in which the relation of that particular tribe/society

with the creator and other aspects of nature are invariably there - which gives that society

a sense of belonging and community. Because these are usually not open ended stories,

these in literate societies become the scripture based religion. However there are 'local'

truths that are valid in that particular time and place in which that society lives - but do

not hold true once the society expands, merges or is dispersed or 'civilized', in which case

only the core aspect of the creation myth still remain valid, its other details are no

longer valid.

One reason is that the process of creation of humans is also people/society wise - that is,

it is not uniform - and this is to ensure a wide diversity of groups of human beings.

Because of the tremendous diversity of these creation myths, it has become fashionable

in 'evolved and intelligent' people to conclude that these are total imaginary and therefore

also untrue.

The creation myths are special myths because although they are essentially true, and not

merely metaphorical (in the details they are metaphorical, not in essence), they still can't

be called literally true because no human being could possibly be a witness to creation -

and these myths were synthesized by the first seers, visionaries or shamans of that

The creation myths of Egypt, Sumerian and Judean-Christian have been constructed after

civilizations had set in and are therefore quite distinct and different in nature from the

creation myths of tribal societies. In the civilized ones, the vital role of the trickster in

creation is missing or is minor or secondary, whereas in Native American tribes it is quite

prominent and this is a very crucial distinction because the trickster myth is one of the

most important myths because the dynamic nature of the trickster element from the

time of creation till the very end of the temporal reality of the world. Also because the

trickster element is closely related to the controller myths (below).

Most other myths related to creation are static myths as these are mainly about

the past and are essentially confined to being diachronic in their linguistic

expression, and there is not much scope for reinterpretation of these -

unless there are components in it that are subject to reinterpretation, and

that there are no current taboos against reinterpretation.

All organized religion is "diachronic" mythology as human beings have lost the

power or the art of the seer to engage in "synchronic" mythology.

[Web Interactive 2013: Let me reiterate that even the aboriginal creation myths have lost
most of their validity in today's world, only some of the core archetypes in the myths that can
be cross-related to each other are useful for us today. Even the reason behind it is simple - the
aboriginal world stands destroyed, and all creation myths of the aboriginal world were in their
details specific to the local conditions and had meaning specific for the society in which these
myths were synthesized by their seers.
Now coming to the creation myths in civilizations, one of the problems is that these became hard
doctrines that were forcibly shoved over everyone that come under their dominion (the same
story continues with science replacing Christianity in this global civilization), unlike aboriginal
myths that were told as stories, and were left to the individual person to do with or interpret it,
according to their talent and predilection - or to seek it afresh on their own if need be. So the
Biblical myths dominated and suppressed other creation myths that could have had a more
positive effect on the dominant culture. Of these I found that the creation myths of Gnosticism
are also more interesting as well as significant for Western civilization that the Biblical texts.
(In Gnosticism the Demiurge, creator of the material world, was not God but the Archon. Wiki)
The other myths are those of the Greeks, and the one in particular is the myth of Ananke - the
personification of destiny, necessity and fate.. She marks the beginning of the cosmos,
along with Chronos.

2016 MAR14: COMMENT in H post Article on Einstein's religious take

From this synopsis of Einstein's attitudes about God/religion, the best classification that
can be made is that he was a scientific-mystic-pantheist. Not surprising that he concludes
that God is inherent in the "laws of nature". But what I find bizarre is the statement
"science itself bears evidence that there is some spirit in the world that shows itself
through the laws of nature" - this is what I would call a classic pantheistic fudge that
is the hallmark of post-modernity - a peculiar inability to differentiate between the
 physical and the non-physical.
However I find that he at least is aware of the limits of his own intellectual abilities
regarding the larger questions about life when he says "I prefer an attitude of humility
corresponding to the weakness of our intellectual understanding of nature and of our
 own being."
A man's gotta know his limitations, and Einstein indeed does. That itself is a praiseworthy
unscientific quality of being human that unfortunately is rare.
One bit of knowledge he certainly has got dead right: that God is not in the "business" of
running the day to day affairs of human beings. What he gets dead wrong is that the
"laws of nature" are in-charge, whereas the Gnostics got that one dead right: that this
"business" of running the daily affairs has been "outsourced" (to the Archon) right
from the beginning, and continues till the end.  Happy Birthday Einstein.
Remark by Atheist: It is the "laws of nature" that are in charge.
Reply: The "laws of nature" apply only to the purely physical objects, observed

The advent of myth making took place when man wondered about the mystery of existence
and from the power of synthetic visions or dreaming to reveal hidden forces that created,
affected or controlled the beings of the world. The advent of science began (Thales) by
speculating on, and by making hypothesis about the material world - what was the stuff
that everything was made of. (Note the contrast).
Thus the process of development of science is concentrated upon
 1) the constitution of the material world 2) Logical hypothesis building (making models)
about the properties of matter. ( Note - Both of these points are a distinct and different
process from the myth making process. I bring these up again because it is crucial to make
these distinctions in order to avoid endless confusions ! )

Misleading Myths & Misinterpretations

"A myth is of course not a fairy story. It is the presentation of facts belonging
to one category ( ex. the non-physical )  in the idioms belonging to another
( ex. the physical ). To explode a myth is accordingly not to deny the facts,
but to re-allocate them."......Gilbert Ryle

One of the characteristics of myths is that they tend to be misinterpreted and

misconstrued. Especially when myths are not understood as stories or tentative

explanations but rather as literal truths or hard and fast beliefs.

Myths also become traps when there is no synchronic experience to dynamically

interpret the myth or the logical relationships between elements have not been

developed or have been rendered incoherent as in the claims made by mystics -

for ex. myths like “The world is an illusion" are essentially misleading myths that

can be called ‘mystical fallacies’ – logically incoherent thinking with inappropriate

use of words - leading to self deception and loss of responsibility.

2015: While it is misleading to call all of this world fake, illusory or a dream,
temporal reality ( this world is part of temporal reality) is full of all kinds of traps,
and ironically making such sweeping generalizations (typically mystical
 fallacies) is itself entrapping.

Quite fashionable in mystical-religious doctrines of the East, but now scientists

are also jumping in the fray by speculating on whether the world is a simulation or

that there are multiverses of other kinds/laws etc. At best it is thought provoking if

understood as a loose and vague analogy from computer programming and at worst

it is a profanity towards the meaning of life and death.

Myth, metaphor and analogy are simulacra of those realities that are not directly accessible

and therefore such expressions using words must be understood and acknowledged as

a first level of simulacrum. If one fails to be conscious of this first level of formation of

simulacrum and deal with it accordingly - as allegory that is subject to individual exploration

by both synthesis and rational interpretation, then secondary levels of simulacrum are

inevitable that lead to entrapment in a sort of simulation that a culture has cumulatively

generated, and which must be acknowledged as it’s own making/doing.

Although myth making and science are thesis anti-thesis to each other as processes, the
false elevation of scientific data to a god like status and the hyperbolic claims made thereof
has generated many myths of science that misrepresent what science is - and these myths
also acquire a dangerous dimension because these are not then recognized as myths, but
given the status of so called 'facts'.

The Silly, The Misleading and The Dangerous Myths of Science

Just as there are silly, dangerous or misleading myths in religion and mythology,
there are just as silly, dangerous and misleading myths in science.

Dangerous Myth: Science has shown that all myths are false and are either superstitions
or deceptions or delusions of primitive mentality.

Reality: This scientific myth is the most dangerous of all – I have called it the monster myth of
science and modern rationality because this has changed the definition of myth in the modern/
post-modern world to literally mean: falsehoods or misconceptions of irrational minds.
The synonymous phrases/words are: false collective belief; imaginary or fictitious thing or person;
any invented story, idea, or concept. In other words myths are considered to be totally fictitious,
imaginary and even delusions, whereas myths are attempts to get some grasp of intangible reality
which is not physical but nonetheless vital for human concerns. Myths are human expressions of
that which is neither tangible truths nor imaginary fictions – myths therefore fall in the
gray area between these two categories.

Silly and misleading myth: Through science, everything can eventually be explained, even if
at present we cannot. Corollary: Science will eventually solve all the mysteries of the cosmos
and formulate the “Theory of Everything”

Reality: It MAY be (big Maybe) possible to explain all purely physical phenomena and properties
of matter in parts, not even in whole, because a strange paradox exists here: the more new
‘laws’ are discovered - the more new hypothesis and possible new laws or relationships emerge
 – leading to an ever increasing number of laws, equations, relationships etc – a bottomless
quicksand or quagmire where the ‘unified theory’ or composite wholistic picture becomes more
and more elusive whereas even long existing paradoxes are nowhere
near resolution (ex. EPR paradox).

Silly and Dangerous myth: That which cannot be detected or measured or quantified by
scientific instruments or methodology or mathematical formulation is nonsense.

Reality: There are qualitative, immaterial, intangible realities like human values, beauty, love,
caring and especially justice that can never be quantified, measured or detected but are more
‘Real’ than the quantifiable and measurable itself. Even if we assume that science can explain
everything, it can never explain the qualitative experience.

Silly and misleading myth: There is no domain that is outside of scientific inquiry and methodology.
Even Philosophy is regarded as a foolish and vain pastime for those who do not have enough
intelligence to be scientists. The hatchet job done by scientists on Philosophy is so complete
that the state of affairs is such that there is no agreement whatsoever on what that means
anymore or how to define it. The scientists have invaded and taken over there too by using
data and evidence to prove that Philosophy is useless and worthless waste of time.

Reality: Non-physical domains are completely out of reach of scientific inquiry and explanations.
The realm of the Spirit is one such a domain where scientific explanation can't even begin.
Philosophy is the intellectual art of asking questions and providing pragmatic answers about
vital issues of human concern that science by itself cannot deal with. – for ex. Morals.

Silly, Dangerous and Misleading myth: Science is a search for the "Truth" and the only
method to "know all Truth".

Reality: This is the biggest deception and lie perpetuated by science fanatics. Truth for whom
and for what? Science is merely data that can establish material facts from an objective
perspective, and has as such nothing to do with the truth. Truth has to do with how the
facts are interpreted and used for a particular purpose or value by individual human beings.

Silly and Dangerous myth: Of which there is no 'evidence' doesn't exist, and is either
imaginary or is a delusion.

Reality: There are abstract realities like Justice of which there is no tangible evidence of it
being integral to the moral fabric of reality, and therefore no scientific study will ever find
any evidence for it. Does that mean it doesn't exist? If it didn't exist the moral order of
the cosmos would not exists, and therefore the cosmos itself would not exist, because
that is the very Telos of the cosmos. The whole qualitative fields like Art and literature
and qualitative emotions like love and empathy have no evidence to support their value
and so should these be considered imaginary or delusions, just because these cannot
be evaluated for their measurable or detectable evidence to prove their existence?

Silly and Dangerous myth: Subjective experiences are of no value in themselves because
these arise out of brain functioning which works according to the physical laws and thus
the objective and scientific study of brain functioning can explain all subjective states and
individual values. Thus values themselves can be derived from objective scientific data.
Corollary: Human behavior is codified and derived from DNA/ genes

Reality: This is a very dangerous myth and has arisen because of the unexamined assumption
in science that there is no reality beyond the physical, objectified universe. Another related
assumption is that consciousness is solely generated by the brain. While both these assumptions
may be necessary for science to carry out it's business, the least that scientists should
acknowledge is that these are assumptions made by them which become invalid for subjective
experiences and values that also have a non-physical (psychic) component. Science is thus
sharply limited in understanding subjective human values and motivations. This problem
arises because in science only 'objective' understanding has any validity.

The following is a review of the movie Gattaca:
Tagline: With the Will even mountains you can move, DNA be damned.,
17 August 2012

*** This review contains spoilers ***

The 'progress' of science has strewn the landscape of this world with silly and dangerous
myths about human behavior. These myths are perpetuated with authority by the scientific
establishment and in time they have the same stranglehold over society and even global
culture as the religious authorities once had through their myths. One such myth has resulted
from genetic research: that all human behavior, capabilities, character and potentiality is
determined by that individual's DNA. Although it is not obvious in the movie, but I am positing
here that there is an abstract force in human beings called WILL that is the driving force for
intelligence that has almost nothing to do with DNA. It is that force that makes an individual
do things that are seemingly impossible on face value, and beyond the indicated scope of the
best possible DNA. And if you don't have the Will, even your potential intelligence that may be
indicated by DNA is worthless. "Gerome had everything he needed to get into Gattaca,
except the desire (Will) to do so."

GATTACA is a very good satire on this myth and also how damaging this kind of scientific mythology
has been to humanity. In the plot this has been done by projecting this myth to its logical extreme
into a fictional future society that controls human behavior and assesses all human capabilities
according to individual DNA by making it almost mandatory to produce off-springs that are genetically
controlled by removing all genes that are associated with diseases or any potential deficiencies
in the physiology of the offspring. Natural conception of off-springs is highly discouraged – almost
a taboo and any such persons are refused the top jobs. Vincent is natural born, with a short life
expectancy and so he is a janitor, however he dreams of going to a space mission but is rejected
only because his DNA isn't good enough, "I belonged to a new underclass – no longer by social
status or the color of your skin – we now had discrimination down to a science".

Vincent manages to get into Gattaca fraudulently by using the DNA of a 'perfect' person, but has to
use all the precautions daily so that he is not detected as an 'invalid'. This builds up the tension and the
suspense in the movie which lasts till the very end. Another interesting element in the dialogs or voice
over is the frequent references to "they", meaning the scientific establishment that has defined human
potential only in terms of DNA. "They won't believe that one of their own elite could have suckered
them all this time. You don't understand…when they look at you, they don't see you; they see me
(my DNA)." When Irene, who becomes romantically involved with Vincent discovers that he is an
impersonator and also a 'God child' and not a 'science child', she is upset, angry and confounded as
to how Vincent has been able to pull it off despite not having the potential – the right DNA. Vincent
confronts her bias and prejudice and shows her how narrow her thinking has been become because
of 'them'. "You are the authority of what is not possible, aren't you Irene. They have got you working
so hard looking for flaws that after a while that's all that you see. For whatever its worth,
I'm here to tell you that it's possible."

This is a must watch movie for those who suspect that the scientific establishment has abused its
authority in the educational process of this now globalized culture to narrow down reality only into
what 'they' think that 'they' have determined as valid knowledge. This is the presently unconscious
terror that 'they' have unleashed upon this world, the terror of the most deadly kind of ignorance.

The Controller Myth

The realities that some myths refer to may be structurally dynamic in the sense that those

realities that the myth refers to shift and change with the changing epochs and eras

of History, as with the changing beliefs and values of the societies of the world.

Therefore it becomes imperative that the traditional view of a structurally dynamic myth

will not work, or produce genuine understanding about the reality behind that myth, and

new conceptual tools have to be used based upon the popular language of the time. But

this is possible only if the myth is experienced afresh by the explorer of the myth – through

a visionary excursion – the conditions for which have become very difficult in the world

because the two conditions that are required for this are isolation and stimulus.

Only after ‘seeing’ the myth afresh, the linguistic expression of the myth and the correlation

process with the traditional or different versions of the myth can take place. The other difficulty

is that poetic expression has a very limited target range, and rational expression requires a

long, sustained process and drive in the target subject to work.

One such structurally dynamic myth (or collection of myths) is the myth/s about what and

how the world is controlled. This is very important myth because it deals not only with the

present but also with the past and future - that's why I have called it 'The Myth'.

"I therefore claim to show not how men think in myths but how myths operate in
men's minds without their being aware of the fact"......Claude Levi-Strauss

Since antiquity, mankind  sought and speculated upon the hidden forces in

nature that seemingly controlled and directed their actions.  Seekers,  seers,

mystics, sorcerers, all sought the vision that would show them all that was

concealed, to reveal the  mysteries  of life and death.  But while what each of

them saw was a different vision, most descriptions condense into a vision of a

huge, dark, intricate, dynamic and complex labyrinth that defied description

in ordinary terms. Some saw only the creative process of the world as part of

this complex labyrinth, some saw in it the destructive process, some saw the

entire process condensed into a microscopic visual set of images. According to

the place, time and cultural settings in which they lived, they described what

they saw in the forms, terms and language of that culture. Thus in some

cultures what took the form of a giant dragon, in another culture it was

associated with the shape of an eagle, and yet another as a god that held

all power and who could grant or release power to some people.

And there was one thing that was common in their  descriptions of what

they saw : that this was the controller, or appeared to be the controller

of not only all the creatures of the world,  but also all the inanimate objects

that made up the world. But none of the descriptions made sense to ordinary

people who had no drive, desire, predilection or talent for such visions.

"Unfortunately no one can be told what the matrix is. You have to
see it yourself".......Morpheus in the motion picture ' The Matrix'

"The poem . . . is a little myth of man's capacity of making life meaningful.
And in the end, the poem is not a thing we see it is, rather, a light by which
we may see and what we see is life".......Robert Penn Warren

And so any such descriptions became myths : stories and myths about the

hidden force/s or controller/s, until they became almost a permanent belief

in that culture, eventually leading to the deification or demonisation of the

entity or entities that controlled their lives. The visions became scarcer, and

the beliefs became stronger...eventually becoming the religion or part of the

religion of that culture.

Only those cultures that had their visionaries left, insisted upon not reducing

the interpretations of their visions into definitive forms and beliefs, for they

knew that to do that would distort the meaning and significance of their vision,

which was not only of personal significance, but also it's interpretation was

not to be taken as universally valid.

Sorcerers and the practitioners of the art of the sorcery intuitively understood

this essential aspect of any vision, and so did not make it into a rigid system of

forms and relationships like science does. Besides, since the vision was not based

upon any direct vision involving the sensory system, but was a synthetic

or synthesised vision, sorcerers understood that it would be meaningless

to agree upon a highly personal visual experience that was the result of a

personal synthesis, and just as personal also was the subsequent

rationalisation or interpretation of this synthesis.

"The test of a true myth is that each time you return to it, new insights and
 interpretations arise".......Starhawk

"Myths are public dreams, dreams are private myths."....Joseph Campbell

Men of religion churned out  stories of deities and demons and mystics saw it as

a great mysterious vastness of cycles of creation and destruction. Difference in

visions and cultural interpretations led to different versions of this myth. So

contrasting were these versions that they are virtually irreconcilable in

their contradictory elements. A devil in one culture became a deity in

another, and because of this, "the myth" is irreconcilable between two

different cultures.

"In effect, contradictions, as the unassimilable aspect of human society,
generates myth. Myth derives from the asymmetry between belief and
reality, the one and the multiple, freedom and necessity, identity and

Myth is the ( almost impossible) synthesis between the diachronic
and the synchronic aspects of language - the attempt to reconcile the
irreconcilable : since the purpose of myth is to provide a logical model
capable of overcoming a contradiction, a theoretically infinite number
of versions of the myth will be generated, each slightly different from
the others. Myth thus becomes the third dimension of language ; in it
a continuous attempt is made to reconcile the other two dimensions
of language - the diachronic and the synchronic.
Because complete
reconciliation  is  impossible,  myth  grows  spiral - wise   until  the
intellectual impulse which has produced it is exhausted. Myth grows
then, because, structurally, the contradiction - the asymmetry - which
gives it life, cannot be resolved.".....................Levi Strauss

Now, a lot of water has flown under this bridge and if we are to come to terms

with loads of mythologies, stories and interpretations, we will have to cut out

the crap from them to derive the useful stuff  and arrive at the crux of it all.

" It is therefore to be expected of the poet that he will resort to mythology
in order to give his experience its most fitting expression
. It would be a
serious mistake to suppose that he works with materials received at
second hand. The primordial experience is the source of his creativeness ;
it cannot be fathomed, and therefore requires mythological imagery to
give it form.
In itself it offers no words or images, for it is "as in a glass,
darkly". It is merely a deep presentiment that strives to find expression.
It is like a whirlwind that seizes everything within reach, and by carrying
it aloft, assumes a visible shape
. Since the particular expression can
never exhaust the possibilities of the vision, but falls far short of it in
richness of content, the poet must have at his disposal a huge store of
materials if he is to communicate even a few of his intimations.

What is more, he must resort to an imagery that is difficult to handle, and
full of contradictions in order to express the weird paradoxicality of this
........C. G. Jung

And this is the mother, the matrix - the form into which all experience
is poured The father on the other hand, represents the dynamism of
the archetype, for the archetype consists of both - form and energy.
......C. G Jung

But first of all we have to know just what is it that we are talking about.

What we are talking about is : What is it that makes, controls, holds the

world we live in ?

Both science and religion provide extremely simplistic answers : for religion

it is God ( or any mono entity "X" or even a multitude ) , and for science it is a

set of laws or equations found, or yet to be found, by scientists, that

determine the behavior of all the "things" or "objects" that exist.

Both these are rejected here as being too simplistic and useless for the

purpose here, and that is : a coherent examination of reality behind this

fundamental myth. In accordance with the mythology as well as the

logic of our time, the term that is used here to refer to the command and

control entity of the world as "The Matrix".

The other terms having become somewhat outdated as well as too cultural

specific, the closest general term "Matrix" seems most appropriate, however

when it is felt that other words fit better in the overall context and meaning

of that statement, then that should be and will be used.

The Matrix in its widest sense is the overall command and control system of

the Universe, and the command and control system of this earth can then be

said to be the sub-matrix of a larger matrix. ( John C Lilly's  term : E. C. C. O )

"The power that governs the destiny of all living beings is called the Eagle,
because it is an eagle or has anything to do with an eagle, but because
it appears to the seer as an immeasurable jet-black eagle, standing erect
as an eagle stands, its height extending to infinity ".

...C. Castaneda ( The Eagle's Gift )

It should be understood at the outset that the matrix is a metaphysical entity

that is not a single whole entity by itself, having a singular control centre or

singular control force, but as a composite entity of all the entities of the world

as well as the the interlinking connection between them, although it has a

central structure of command and control having basic elements ( or programs)

that have an overall long-term control program, as well as unknown clusters or

bands of non-physical entities, as well as the "Spirit", although it may be more

appropriate to consider Spirit as a separate primal and transcendent

force that precedes the sub-matrix of this world  as well as transcends

the eventual collapse  or dissolution of the sub-matrix of this world.

"Myths are clues to the spiritual potentialities of the human life".
.....Joseph Campbell

Some of the attributes of the Matrix are :

1. It is the command and control "system" of all the beings of a world.

The word "system" is referred to in a non-physical sense here. This however

does not imply that this "system" has no structure, but rather this implies that

this structure does not have a definitive form like a physical shape or form or

structure, and thus the vision of the Matrix is bound to appear differently to

people from different backgrounds, interests, predilections, etc.  And also

because anything non-physical is "perceived" in terms and concepts of the

physical, a huge amount of confusion persists about it. The confusions should

disappear with the realization that the non-physical is a synthesized perception

using base elements of the physical senses, that is, visions, sounds, words etc,

and thus is a highly personal affair.

2. All the beings of a world not only act under the commands and controls of

the Matrix through their responses to the emanations ( or commands ) of the

Matrix, but just as well, they themselves can have limited command in the

Matrix if they have the requisite Power and the Will to do so.

A command so entered or emanated into the Matrix through a being's affirmative

actions then serves as a general command in the Matrix that has an effect upon

other beings who have an opening or window to such commands, either specific

or general, as the nature of the command may be.

A being is normally open to only those commands that  generally conform to the

already acquired command and control programs as a process of the being's

upbringing in a social system. At birth, this window is widely open ( but not

infinitely open ), but as a requirement for survival, this gradually narrows only

to the area of survival and social concern for conformity and social status.

It is the Will of the being that defines the boundaries and focus of this window

to the emanations of the Eagle.

A person who conforms entirely to a particular set of social, cultural norms will

have his window of perception open and restricted only to the narrow band

of emanations pertaining to that society and culture. In effect, such a person

can be said to have no individual Will of his own, and therefore no individuality.

A person having no Will of one's own ( i.e. realised/developed ) has no commands

to emanate and is therefore entirely subject to the commands of the Eagle's

emanations that pertain to the narrow band of emanations of that social system.

Most people therefore merely and mechanically respond to the commands of the

Eagle and reflect back the same commands, thus reinforcing or strengthening

those commands.

"Your command becomes the Eagle's command"....Castaneda

3. A Willful act emanates a command into the matrix, also called here as

Intent. Thus the "Intent of the Matrix" is the resultant of the affirmative acts

of the beings that are part of the Matrix, and thus becomes the "Intent of the

World", which effects the then following present and future of the world.

It follows therefore that affirmative actions of living beings may well have a

long lasting effect on other beings even after their death. The affirmative

( non-mechanical) actions become "Intent" that effects beings present in the

world and especially beings of the future in this world.

This is particularly true for those who have been able to retain their spirit as

an independently developed power through their creative acts.

Synchronicity in the Matrix: One of the main control programs in the matrix

is to synchronize the intent of all groups of connected people in the world

so that the events in the world are connected and in sync with the main

script. These may well appear to some people as strange coincidences.

This is particularly true of people who are related in some way (either as

a direct relationship or commitment or purpose) that may

or may not be apparent or obvious.

"The world adjusts itself to itself," don Juan said after listening to my doubts.
"This is not a setup. This is an omen, an act of power."...C. Castaneda

[Here DJ is trying to express the idea that events in the world are connected or
synchronized, especially at crucial moments in the lives of the beings in the world.
( Also check the Jung's concept of synchronicity)
CC however has not yet realized this and therefore he thinks that this is another of
DJ's concoctions or a deliberate set up. But by CC's way of thinking, he cannot ever
explain how he 'coincidentally' met DJ in the market that day. As we shall learn in
the concept of the eagle, the control structures of the reality of the world are setup
to synchronize the events, actions, will or intent of the beings of the world.]

4. The sub- Matrix can be said to come into existence at the moment life is created

on a planet by the Spirit.  The sub-Matrix  ceases to exist the moment life is

extinguished, either through destruction or by  Intended dissolution of the

World by the beings of the world. The most general program of the sub-Matrix

is to oppose the "Spirit" or the life sustaining force.

Therefore the most powerful program in the sub-Matrix

 is that of destruction.

It permeates into every aspect of the sub-Matrix, and like

a computer virus has the built-in goal to replicate itself to

become more and more powerful in order to achieve its

ultimate goal : destruction. There is no self-cognition

involved here : it accomplishes this goal mechanically ,

like a perfect machine having near 100% efficiency.

5. The relationship between the concept of "Spirit"  and "Matrix" poses some

problems that can become a crucial bottleneck in any metaphysics, which can

then block further understanding, or can lead to confusion.  But it should be

clear from the understanding that "Spirit" is primal, temporal as well as eternal,

whereas the "Matrix", which is the control system as well as the "container/limiter"

of a world, is thus in one sense a creation of the "Spirit" and thus temporal.

Thus the Matrix which contains in it the whole world, is the temporal construct

in which the "Spirit" realizes, manifests or tests itself. It is through this process

that the "Spirit" enhances or refines itself.

6. The Eagle's emanations are commands that exert a pressure on all the beings

under its domain to follow its commands. The emanations are mostly those that

are already in a flow for a long time and have been reinforced through agreement

between the beings of the world. Thus the greater the agreement between the

beings in a world about anything, the stronger become the emanations or commands

to conform upon all the beings of the world. Thus if all the beings of a world agree to

a command to terminate the world ( which in any case is the ultimate goal of the

matrix ), the Matrix collapses and the world comes to an end.

However the Spirit of the world transcends the Matrix, and so whatever remains

upon the collapse of the Eagle is the Spirit of that world.

7. The physical part of the world is only a small part of Eagle's emanations. These are

those emanations that relate to sensory perception and its derivatives.

8. Apart from the emanations that are perpetuated by the beings of a world through

the perpetuation of the accumulated "knowns" as clusters of social and cultural values,

beliefs and concepts, the Eagle has huge bands of emanations in its inventory that are

normally not accessible to the beings of a world, and therefore properly classified as the

"unknown" bands. Only those beings who have the developed Will or the aperture of

their window of perception open to the possibilities of the "unknown" can possibly

venture into these "unknown" bands - the realm of sorcerers.  A Third kind of

emanation is that which results from or is generated as a result of the creative actions

of a being, the prime example of which is creative imagination, which then enhances

the space and scope ( bands ) of the Eagle's emanations. The resultant emanations

becomes accessible to future beings, those that have the Will or connection with

the intent of the original creator.

Necessity vs Freedom

"Money alone sets all the world in motion.".... Publius Syrus.

"Wealth is like sea-water; the more we drink, the thirstier we
become; and the same is true of fame." .... Schopenhauer

The matrix is the control construct in which the 'necessary'

part of temporal (space-time) reality runs it's course.

The force of necessity whose essence is Will, is the dynamic counterpart of the

force of freedom whose essence is Spirit. As dynamic counterparts, necessity

opposes as well as compliments freedom, because the test of the real takes

place only after the necessary construct or grounds for it to be tested is set

as a virtual edifice in which the entities (human) making the choices find

and realize for themselves what is fake and what is real in this edifice and

through the processes of conflict between them setup in this edifice.

What is real is known or realized only in contrast to what is illusory in

it's extreme and temporally necessary in it's pragmatic moderation.

The most striking of this representation is money. Money is the spearhead

of the force of necessity. Money is that ‘necessary illusion’ by which the edifice

of civilizations is built. This edifice is virtual – that is, it is a synthetic construct

in contrast to raw, primordial nature. What is the purpose of civilization?

It is to develop technologies (and money is the fuel for this) that serve as

tools and enablers for those few individuals who through their art, intellect and

creativity, challenge this “virtual reality” edifice to expose its true colors (which

is to entice and entrap) and thereby find and realize for themselves what is

transcendentally real and which is the highest freedom.

Thus money that represents the force of necessity is the counterpart of the

force of freedom not only in an abstract sense but also in the most pragmatic

 sense. ( Money versus Free)

WEB INT:2015 Money is the spearhead of the force of necessity, a necessary illusion
that fuels civilizations. It's counterpart is freedom. Unto a critical threshold it is the
necessary resource for the survival of an individual, but beyond that threshold it's
real value then becomes only in terms of what constructive or creative work the
individual does. Beyond the threshold of survival value, there is no tangible
 relationship between money and happiness.

"Money is human happiness in the abstract; he, then, who is no longer
capable of enjoying human happiness in the concrete devotes
himself utterly to money."  - Schopenhauer

For a vast majority, technologies are for the purpose of entertainment and

pleasure, and for still another minority, technologies are there to fulfill their

subliminal urges for destruction – which is the inevitable ‘ends’ of all

Thus technology as a ‘means’ or tool can be used both for creating and destroying

(this process is the core of the script that ‘runs’ temporal reality), but just as an

end in itself, or just for entertainment, means inevitable destruction.

"Your pretty empire took so long to build, now, with a snap
of history's fingers, down it goes.”― Alan Moore

2016: Response to: "the world that is being created through our actions today
is beyond our simple comprehension."

yes that is correct... but still the actions that are mostly talked about are stuff like
"excessive use of fossil fuels", and few also point out "over-population".
These are symptoms of the disease (in deed there is a dis-ease is even not even
acknowledged by most people on this planet).
But what are the real causes of this dis-ease needs a deeper consciousness and
inquiry. The simplest comprehension, as I discern is this: the spiritual death precedes
the material death and destruction in the life cycle in a world.
So consider this: what actions has led to the death of the Spirit?

"If a man would move the world, he must first move himself."

"I am already given to the power that rules my fate.
And I cling to nothing, so I will have nothing to defend.
I have no thoughts, so I will see.
I fear nothing, so I will remember myself.
Detached and at ease,
I will dart past the Eagle to be free."
......Carlos Castaneda (The Eagle's Gift)

"This interplay of word pictures that disturb us and word pictures that encourage
us is also a key to how the Apocalypse works. The images move in cycles - they
are dynamic, not static. The author takes us through scenes that threaten us
and into a vision of something more hopeful and life giving. That more hopeful
vision is where the writer wants you, the reader to end up. If you get stuck in
the ominous visions in the middle of a cycle, then you need to keep going -
to scenes of celebration that can encourage you again.
I have to say that the pictures have a way of opening things up like nothing
else can. I find that the pictures grab my attention very strongly, they grab
me in like a great work of art will do. They help me see things like I have
never seen them before. The word pictures don't simply dispense bits of
data for us to absorb. Instead they engage the imagination and stimulate
our thoughts so that we are brought into a process of reflection that is
often open ended." C.R. Koester (TTC)

An individual is a being who has taken at least one step outside

the cultural matrix in which the being was born and brought up.

In other words, an individual is a being who has to his/her credit

some action or some expression that is spontaneous or creative.

A person has no individuality worth its name if there is no action

or expression that has a creative impact upon the reality of the

world. An individual is defined by the forceful choices and

decisions the individual makes or creates.

"Authority is granted to people who are perceived as authoring their own
words, their own actions, their own lives, rather than playing a scripted
role at great remove from their own hearts. When teachers depend on the
coercive powers of law or technique, they have no authority at all."
- Parker J. Palmer

Notes2012: A genuine individual is one who not grounded by ethnocentrism, one
who has taken at least a few steps outside the cultural matrix of values in which
he/she was born and raised - especially stepped outside the now global culture
of diffuse but definitive imposed values by the global culture - most of these are
actually junk values for a genuine individual who desires an autonomy of thought
and action that defines who he/she is and it is in that autonomous and creative
action that the individual transcends culture and even death.
This is possible when one starts by undergoing a critical examination of one's
cherished values - the source of these values - whether internal or socially
imposed and their contrast to value systems of different kinds of people
or cultures.

WEB Interactive 2013:-Those activists who fight "The System" must always keep
in mind that they are fighting a personal battle in which their own individual
autonomy from "The System Control" is at stake, and the goal of this battle is
self-improvement through creativity.
At best "The System" can be "exposed" or made transparent to some degree
by challenging it so that it's power structures and dynamics become clear to more
and more people, thereby "reforming the system" somewhat. "The System" although
now operating at the "edge of chaos", cannot be brought down, for that will mean
total chaos and collapse. Thus although "The System" is slowly but surely unraveling,
this is the process of the Apocalypse, which is gradually proceeding but will at some
point end in a catastrophic collapse.

"The System as a five-tiered hierarchy may be seen from a variety of perspectives in many
cultures. The feudal social system can certainly be broken down into a hierarchy with royalty
followed by knights, farmers, peasants, and then criminals. Industrial society can be viewed
from two perspectives: the liberal democrats see society made up of the policy-makers, the
executives, the managers, the employed, and the unemployed; and, of course, Marxists
name the groups the intelligentsia, the bourgeoisie, the petty-bourgeoisie, the proletariat,
and the underclass. This classification of social roles is so pervasive that one might contend
that it is universally implemented as a control system in all cultures, that it is, in fact, the System.
Cyberculture is an attempt to overthrow the control system of society. It is the most recent in a
series of movements that have fought against the restrictions imposed on individuals by society.
The movement toward individual autonomy has existed throughout history: the struggle for
freedom from mortality imposed by biology, the struggle for freedom from oppression imposed
by culture, the struggle for freedom from waste imposed by politics, and the struggle for freedom
from control imposed by economic systems - all have been perceived as class struggles.
Cyberculture is the struggle of the individual for freedom from the class system itself"..

The matrix assigns goals, choices and decisions by default to those

who have forfeited the power to make choices, decisions, goals,

i.e. who have no ability and drive left to make their own decisions

and choices.

"The man whom we can with justice call "modern" is solitary. He is so of necessity and
at all times, for every step towards a fuller consciousness of the present   removes him
further from his original "participation mystique" with the mass of men - from submersion
in a common unconsciousness. Every step forward means an act of tearing himself loose
from that all embracing, pristine unconsciousness which claims the bulk of mankind almost
entirely - and he alone finds that the ways of life which correspond to earlier levels pall upon
The values and strivings of those past worlds  no longer interest him save from the
historical standpoint. Thus he has become "unhistorical " in the deepest sense and has
estranged himself from the mass of men who live entirely within the bounds of tradition.
Indeed he is completely modern when he has come to the very edge of the world, leaving
behind him all that has been discarded and outgrown, and acknowledging that he stands
before a void out of which all things may grow.

An honest profession of modernity means voluntarily declaring bankruptcy, taking the vows
of poverty and chastity in a new sense, and what is still more painful - renouncing the halo
which history bestows as a mark of its sanction. To be unhistorical is the Promethian sin,
and in this sense modern man lives in sin. A higher level of consciousness is like a burden
of guilt, but only the man who has outgrown the stages of consciousness belonging to the
past and has amply fulfilled the duties appointed for him by his world, can achieve a full
consciousness of the present. To do this he must be sound and proficient in the best sense
- a man who has achieved as much as other people, and even a little more, for unless he is
proficient, he is nothing but an unscrupulous gambler. He must be proficient in the highest
degree,   for unless he can atone by creative ability for his break with tradition,
he is merely disloyal to the past"

The major role of the eagle is to put to test those individuals who make a bid

for knowledge and power/spirit beyond the default or the normal. As a norm,

the eagle assigns roles to all creatures and deploys their energies from birth till

death as per the available defaults of the on going long term programs/necessary

scripts - understood commonly as fate. But those individuals who through their

will and spirit (intent), become conscious to the default process, defy the default

and undertake to use their energies for their own purpose of developing their

own self and its integrity, will eventually come across the challenges put up

by the eagle.

"Human beings are born with a finite amount of energy an energy that
is systematically deployed (by the Eagle), beginning at the moment
of birth, in order that it may be used most advantageously
by the modality of the time."..Carlos Castaneda

The individual who takes on the challenges and does not succumb to them will

eventually achieve self integrity - which means necessary knowledge and

sufficient power/spirit to live a life of freedom and responsibility in which

the individual makes a net positive/creative contribution to the world.

The individual who achieves integrity, and therefore can be called 'free', if he

so wants, or by the very nature of the integrity of that person, make a bid to

enhance his/her consciousness beyond the integrity already achieved, will

come across the ultimate challenge put up by the eagle - and those are the

human tyrants. These are super-special products of the eagle who have been

designated for the very precise task of attempting to demolish the integrity of

those who make a bid for going beyond the normal limits of integrity.

In the normal course, the individual has, by default, the tyranny of  the mass of

society and culture to confront/deal with, but beyond that lies these special

characters who have been designed specifically for the ultimate challenges

posed by the eagle.

Their job is to lure, entrap, distract and destroy the integrity, especially the

moral integrity of people who attempt to enhance their integrity, and as a

matter of fact, it is only through the encounter with these sophisticated

human tyrants can  integrity be possibly enhanced.

"The new seers, in accordance with their practice, saw fit to head their
classification with the primal source of energy, the one and only ruler in
the universe, and they called it simply the tyrant. The rest of the despots
and authoritarians were found to be, naturally, infinitely below the category
of tyrant. Compared to the source of everything, the most fearsome,
tyrannical men are buffoons; consequently, they were classified as
petty tyrants, pinches tiranos.".....Carlos Castaneda (Fire from Within)

"Modern man must descend the spiral of his own absurdity to the lowest point;
only then can he look beyond it. It is obviously impossible to get around it, jump
over it, or simply avoid it.....Vaclav Havel

The bulk of the matrix constitutes of commands that are the continuing

beliefs of the large societies and dominating cultural beliefs that have

been taught and reinforced into the masses of people.  The bulk of

the commands of the matrix constitutes of those commands that are

repeatedly used by the mass or majority of the people of the world.

This leads to a cycle or spiral of accumulation or build up of a gigantic

heap of a narrow type of commands that then force most people to

meekly, without resistance, follow these commands, leading to a

mechanical like behavior of the masses of people in the world, who

blindly accept and believe, without questioning, all that they are

taught from birth. Even religious like experiences are "manufactured"

on a mass scale to induce a state of bliss so as to ensure compliance

by all the people to the established norms of standardized behavior.

What may appear to be an 'enlightening experience', on a mass

scale, invariably turns out to be one of the worst kind of deception.

"To experience transformation in a group and to experience it in oneself are two
totally different things. In a large group, the collective psyche will be more like
the psyche of an animal. Which is the reason why the ethical attitudes of large
organisations is always doubtful. The psychology of a large crowd inevitably
sinks to the level of mob psychology."
....... C G Jung

"Nor should we listen to those who say "The voice of the people is the voice of
God," for the turbulence of the mob is always close to insanity"........Alcuin.

A million zeroes joined together do not, unfortunately, add up to one. Ultimately
everything depends on the quality of the individual, but the fatally shortsighted
habit of our age is to think only in terms of large numbers and mass organizations,
though one would think that the world had seen more than enough of what a
well-disciplined mob can do in the hands of a single madman. ~Carl Jung

The all around brilliance of this movie comes from the multidimensional themes of art,
mythology, intellect and entertainment. It stands out exceptional even in special
effects and martial arts, so there is something for everyone in it, and that is why it will
remain as an all time classic. My focus in this review will be on the myth of The Matrix,
the intellectual ideas and the questions that arise in the plot and the dialogs, and these
are as I have formulated them: What is real, and by the same token, what is illusory?
What is really behind the complex, seductive, at times apparently chaotic and random,
at times apparently precisely timed and connected coincidences of the events and
between the people of the world? What controls all the events of the world?
Do individuals have any control at all through their choices and decisions over what
happens or will happen? Or is it all 'programmed' or 'fated' in a scripted manner?
In short, who or what runs the show? Are all our perceptions the result of the cultural
construct (the set of perceptual interpretations and beliefs about the world 'taught'
into each one of us by our social, cultural 'teachers'), or do we have the freedom to
make our perception take flight into new territories, where no one has ventured
so far? What are the limits of this freedom and how can we then meaningfully
correlate with the existing knowledge matrix (and this movie is itself part of
The Matrix) of the now diffuse and globalized culture of this world?
These questions have been asked by seers, visionaries and thinkers in all parts
of the world for millennia. The answers, descriptions, interpretations provided
by these people found in the various myths, are so diverse and different that it's
mind boggling to the non-thinker, but quite a challenge to the explorer.

So if any of these questions has ever bothered you, then welcome to The Matrix,
the command and control system of the world that is by the necessary order of things,
hidden from us for the very simple reason that it must be beyond individual manipulation
(yes, the factual flaw in the movie is that the Matrix can be hacked). The only thing that
The Matrix will allow is for the determined individual is to have a glimpse or a series of
images of itself, but the interpretation of those is only one such interpretation that ideally
should have correlation to interpretations that others have given. Good luck to
you and hope you 'see' The Matrix, that is, if you really want to.

[Web Interactive note 2013m: The original 'brain in a vat' thought experiment was
Plato's allegory of the cave, but centuries of scientific reductionism has brought
the level of discourse to the point that everybody is forced into believing that
everything real has to reside in the physical and that all our perceptions,
consciousness and controls results from physical brain processes and so ironically
the image of the brain in a vat has itself become a shadow in Plato's cave.

This is not to say that what the image signifies is untrue or totally false, because
in the dynamic control structures of reality, a significant part of control does
not lie and is not confined to the physical processes in the brain. Thus although
the image is somewhat metaphorically true, but is not a good metaphor, even
worse than the 'body in a vat' of the Matrix movie. Thus the metaphorical image
becomes misleading simply because of our inability to distinguish the literally
true and metaphorically true, as also our inability to distinguish when to use
logic and when to artistically interpret. The reductionism of science has made
us incapable of interpreting metaphorical truths behind the images, metaphors
and myths about hidden realities, especially those that control the world and
the cosmos. We have become paralysed by the scientific mindset that demands
evidence/irrefutable proofs for the propositions in every statement uttered.
Thus knowledge of hidden realities becomes totally elusive when we confine
our paradigms or world-view to the limits of logic and science.]

The Matrix is there for you. Challenge it, know and reconstruct yourself.

It was always going to be difficult to match the brilliance of the first matrix movie,
and apart from the high speed shootouts, the rest looks comparatively jaded,
along with the acting of all the main characters. My focus, as in the earlier review,
will continue to be on the mythology and the ideas about The Matrix in the movie,
particularly about the part where Neo reaches the 'mainframe' and meets the
'architect' of the matrix. Firstly the so called 'problem' of choice, which has been
fudged in the movie, needs to be sorted out. Let me state at the onset that The Matrix
is a deterministic control system, which means that in The Matrix, a broad script of the
events of the world have been programmed or 'fated' to happen, without which there
would be utter chaos. (Compare with the Greek sub-Matrix of the Gods of Olympus who
are constrained by the super-script of the force of necessity 'Ananke', also compare
with John C Lily's E.C.C.O.) But within the broad script there is always the scope and
the limited 'freedom' for individual human beings to forge their own mini-scripts i.e. make
interesting or creative twists and turns. As an analogy imagine you have been asked to
play the role of Julius Caesar in a play and you have the choice of either following the
script given to you verbatim or make interesting or creative alterations to it. But you
don't have the choice of completely changing the character portrayal of Julius Caesar.
Coming to the broader context of choice, although the vexing issue of free willed
choice versus fate has been pondered for millennia, there is no clarity on it simply
because free willed choice happens only in the present instant in reality, so in
hindsight may appear to be fated, and because such choices have been the result
of the essential nature of the individual who is making the choice. Even beyond that
is 'real' choice and that is when the 'free' individual 'creates' an option, that is, does
an act that is not determined by past events or has no cause-effect relationship
with past events or existing social, cultural norms. The very idea or concept of
creativity is that it is something entirely new, not related to or determined by anything
in the past. So very few events in world and in the life of an individual are 'real' choices,
usually those that happen at critical moments or in crisis situations. But even then
micro choices are constantly made by many individuals. For example, as I write this
review, I realize that although I may be 'fated' or 'determined' to do this, but the choice
of words are 'real' choices only IF I am able to be creative in this, not just making
clever permutations and combinations. By this I am bringing to your notice that the
prerequisite for 'real' choice is to develop a keen and sharp awareness about how you,
IF, and as, an independent, autonomous individual are personally making decisions,
even the minor ones, especially by being aware of your motives and intentions behind
every act. A tall order? You bet it is. If you take on the challenge, The Matrix is there
as an existing edifice (at a superficial level simply the arena of the physical world itself)
to make use of as well as scripted to rigorously test you at every step. Always remember,
The Matrix is itself value neutral, you have to forge your own values. In the broadest sense,
The Matrix runs the script of constructing a scenario in which the forces of sustenance
of life is constantly at battle with the forces of destruction, which is what the 'architect'
explains to Neo, who also explains that 'the One', the 'Oracle' etc. are basically another
level of control. The destructive side has to be, by necessity (Ananke), stronger and
therefore will eventually triumph (only in the material sense, not in essence)
causing a 'crash' or collapse of The Matrix itself, ending all life,
which means the end of the world.

into being and perish." ......TTC Bartlett

Goethe’s Faust aptly says: “in the beginning was the deed”.” “Deeds” were
never invented, they were done; thoughts, on the other hand, are a relatively late
discovery of man. First he was moved to deeds by unconscious factors; it was only
a long time afterward that he began to reflect upon the causes that had moved him;
and it took it him a very long time indeed to arrive at the preposterous idea that he
must have moved himself . . . his mind being unable to identify any other
motivating force than his own. ~Carl Jung;

“When one feels pulled to do a particular thing, when one has passion for a certain
life path, karma is always involved. In such an instance, when the goal is worthy
and makes one happy, one should continue on that same life path. Just because
the elephant cannot carry you anymore doesn't mean you should give up your goal.
Continue down the path that makes you feel fulfilled. Those who continue on
an unrewarding path for the sake of only monetary gain are
displaying a lack of trust in life.”
―Kwan Yin

In this section, a different take has been constructed of the concepts of the control factors
or forces, by combining or consolidating four key control concepts from different sources
(Karma from India/Arete from Greek, Ananke/Moira (Fate) - from Greek civilization, Fortuna
 - from Italy/ Kismet from India, and Destiny/Bhagya from India)

CAUTION: All these concepts are very subjective in their interpretation and application,
and not to be subject to consensus or opinions of others in their interpretation and
application to one's own self and/or happenings to and of the self. What is presented
here is an abstract of these concepts and the inter-relations between them so that
these are not mechanically or blindly used or applied, but with full consciousness
and responsibility.

"When an inner situation is not made conscious, it appears outside of you as fate"
......C. G. Jung

1. KARMA:  Affirmative actions determining future events (synonym to Intent). This is defined
here as affirmative actions taken by us with conscious volition/ will ( the power to decide or
making decisions ) on our part that also affects others, but whose consequences mostly unfold
after long periods of time and therefore the cause-effect relationships of karma are not directly
perceptual to us, and cannot be calculated or measured by any formula or definitive rule - thus
to do affirmative karma is a matter of inner faith - one has to do it without expectations of present
or future rewards or punishments, fortunes or misfortunes. It is essentially to do what is Right
without regard to consequences - come what may. Mechanical actions taken without conscious
volition/will or induced to by others, or actions taken that are driven by expectations of
rewards or punishments, do not constitute Karma. So what is being presented here is Karma
as positive action. Many people use this concept to denote both good acts ( good karma) as
well as bad acts (bad karma). Karma in India is today mostly understood as  'past Karma'  or
the effects of past life's actions in the present life, whereas in this work Karma is understood as
one's affirmative or creative or moral actions that determine one's destiny. Karma can related
to Greek Arete (excellence in action or achievement)

Arête : Heroic excellence – the perfect living out of one’s own destiny – doing what can be
done by no other than oneself. Etiologically, the word arête is the noun form of the superlative
from the word agathos, meaning good. Good, better – arête – best. This mostly meant proficiency
at accomplishing a task or getting a job done. Closely connected to the word arête is the word
Aagon : meaning contest or struggle – not necessarily a competitive challenge that is measured
along with the performance of others but also be measured  as a standard of one’s own past
Arete is thus excellence of performance measured against the demands of the inner challenge
defined by the task itself.
The notion of the aagon mirrors in the Greek worldview the structure
of reality as a whole: Ananke, and of personal fate: Moira and this struggle to fulfill the task
specifically assigned to each one individual as fully as the limits which the task itself allows
according to its own necessity – the hero’s task. It is in fulfilling his task that self knowledge
and self transcendence occurs. The Aagon is the struggle of all living. The hero through the
aagon comes to know the very ultimate and outer boundary of his own fate. Through the aagon
the hero masters himself, assures himself and knows himself as having done everything within
his power to fulfill his destiny. It is in that self-knowledge that the hero’s self transcendence
occurs. The hero through the aagon in experiencing that limit – that death, comes to know
the very ultimate and outer boundary of his own fate by doing his utmost to meet that
challenge. TTC : Prof Ambrosio

WEBINT 2015: Comment in…/inspirational-quotes_568158…

JESUS and BUDDHA: A contrast
“Every morning we are born again. What we do today is what
matters most.” ....Buddha
"Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God"
-- Jesus.

How is "born again" with Buddha different from Jesus? What exact words were used by Buddha
and how they are translated, what is the context and finally how these are interpreted are all
complex processes of communication. Ultimately each of us is responsible of how we interpret,
use, incorporate, and act upon the communication of another. That is the purpose of language
Buddha was according to my interpretation using some words similar to "born again" in the
context of the Karma doctrine which in it's simplest form states that "our" past actions have a
determining effect in the present even when those actions have occurred a long time ago ... and
even as far as other lifetimes. ( the sub-doctrine of transmigration of "souls")

The doctrine of transmigration of the "soul" (Atman) was widely accepted as the necessary
component part of the doctrine of Karma in the culture of India, but Buddha rejects the
concept of "soul" (clearly he was uncomfortable with metaphysics and theology) but the
doctrine of Karma was still adopted by him...raising the question as to what is it
 that is "reborn".

Thus the view in this doctrine is that all beings are more or less trapped in the past. Obviously
then, our present actions, will then determine the future. But if our present actions are mere
extension of the past, then we are caught in a vicious cycle of cause and effect from which
there is seemingly no escape.
The solution, in short, (my interpretation) is "realization" or "enlightenment" the result of
which is transformative. Which means that one can be "released" from this cycle by truthful and
righteous action. What my addition to this is that creative action, is "transformative Karma".
That is what Buddha means (my interpretation) by "born again": the realization that every day
each one of us has the potential to be start afresh, to act irrespective of the past into something
new that defines or directs the future, rather than keep repeating the same actions.
So what really matters is what we do today.

"I do not believe in a fate that falls on men however they act; but I do believe
in a fate that falls on them unless they act."......Buddha

The quote of Jesus is in a different context and doctrine: (my interpretation) Jesus means "born
again" as a re-establishment of an individual's relationship with God after the "fallen state" in
which this relationship has become "estranged" or "lost" (in civilizations), thought the God
man: Jesus.

So while the focus of Jesus' life was the relation of humans with the eternal, Buddha's life was
focused on the plight of the human and human suffering in the ever changing, temporal reality,
from which a permanent "release" was the ultimate goal. Buddha seemingly projected the
belief that there was no immortal soul, and thus no eternal realm, Or maybe that is what
his followers thought and projected.

Buddha, for all his wisdom, never confronted, nor was even aware of "The Paradox of the
Eternal" nor had any clue about the paradoxical relation between the temporal and the eternal.
Therefore when asked "If you say that there is no-Self, no-soul, then what is it that is reborn"
....he gave no answer. Thus his followers propagate the doctrine of No-Self or the doctrine
that the very notion of a Self is illusory. Some followers go around the entire rigmarole of
all the possibilities and then grandly announce that any discourse of whether there is a
self or not is itself illusory or misleading. Every follower then is feels exalted in such

2. FATE : The force or principle believed to predetermine events. This is mostly to do with the
circumstances of our life over which we have no control or cannot avoid running into ( the
parents we are born to, relatives, people we meet etc ) part of which is scripted or determined
at birth itself, and part of which unfolds according to the programs in the 'command and control
system of the world' or the 'matrix' of the world into which all the beings of the world are
connected. This also includes all that we do mechanically as default behavior patterns
in-built for survival etc. The Greek word for Fate is Moira, i.e., fate which is derived from
the mother of Fate - that is, Ananke (the script writer). Ananke can be loosely related to the
concept of Lila (India) as a scripted cosmic drama or play. There is no one word translation of
Fate into any word from India, the closest is 'Naseeb', which loosely means what is given
and what one deserves or what one has in the present in the material sense.

Fate in India is understood loosely by the doctrine of Karma as the result of 'past-life
bad karma' that is playing out (Lila) in the present life as 'Bhagya', 'Naseeb' or destiny.
Unlike Greek literature wherein there can be forks in the paths of Fate or hints of challenging
or overcoming the limits of fate through Arete, there is no conception in the culture and
literature from India that 'the so presumed and socially defined'  Fate or Bhagya can be
defied, challenged or overcome or rebelled against, and is even considered to be a
blasphemy to even think of questioning it. Thus in the cultural attitudes of India, Fate or
Bhagya are considered as absolutely deterministic and non-interpretive. Ironically the
interpreters of Fate for everyone are the pundits who's authority can never be questioned.

Ananke : the force of impersonal necessity that stands behind and above the will of
the gods – an authority that exceeds and limits even his own – the power of necessity
to which gods and men must yield – the mysterious and divine power that transcends
and encompasses both gods and men.

Moira or Fate : That portion of divine necessity which is meted out to every person
as uniquely his or her own. Ananke is thus impersonal divine necessity and moira is
individual fate. Moira is at it’s core ambivalent : it is both limit and doom on the one
hand - the boundary and power of one’s life that cannot be crossed or altered and at
the same time a gift – a birth right – that which is uniquely one’s own portion – the cup
which one is allowed to fill to the brim to drink from. The hero is the person who
recognizes and accepts his moira within the absolute necessity of the divine cosmic
order and fulfills that destiny completely. TTC Prof. Ambrosio

"The doctor should not strive to heal at all costs. One has to be exceedingly
careful not to impose one’s own will and conviction on the patient. … Sometimes
it is really a question whether you are allowed to rescue a man from the fate he
must undergo for the sake of his further development." ~Carl Jung

Notice the use of a poetic phrase 'customer of fate' in the song 'live like horses', it fits well
to describe the nature of fate. The other expression is 'belly of the beast' which can be
interpreted as 'The Matrix'. So the phrases can be jokingly put as: 'One more customer of
fate in the belly of the beast, and after digestion becomes fat around the belly of the beast.'

Music by Elton John
Lyrics by Bernie Taupin
I can't control this flesh and blood
That's wrapped around my bones
It moves beneath me like a river
Into the great unknown
I stepped onto the moving stairs
Before I could tie my shoes
Pried a harp out the fingers of a renegade
Who lived and died the blues
And his promise made was never clear
It just carved itself in me
All I saw was frost inside my head
On the night he said to me
Someday we'll live like horses
Free rein from your old iron fences
There's more ways than one to regain your senses
Break out the stalls and we'll live like horses
We're the victims of the heartbreak
That kept us short of breath
Trapped above these bloodless streets
Without a safety net
I stood in line to join the tribe
One more customer of fate
Claimed a spoke in the wheel of the wagon train
On the road to the golden gate
On the flat cracked desert I jumped ship
It just made sense to me
I've spent too long in the
belly of the beast
And now I shall be free......

"There is no Fate that cannot be surmounted by scorn"....Camus

Archetypes are complexes of experience that come upon us like fate, and their
effects are felt in our most personal life. The anima no longer crosses our path
as a goddess, but, it may be, as an intimately personal misadventure, or perhaps
as our best venture. When, for instance, a highly esteemed professor in his seventies
abandons his family and runs off with a young red-headed actress, we know
that the gods have claimed another victim. ~Carl Jung

You see, in the actual functioning of the psyche, it does not matter whether you do a
thing or whether it happens to you; whether it reaches you from without or happens
within, fate moves through yourself and outside circumstances equally. ~Carl Jung

3. FORTUNA :  (Was the goddess of fortune and personification of luck in Roman religion. She
might bring good luck or bad....Wiki)
Here Fortuna is distinguished from Fate in that it is distinct from the predetermined factors
or script that make make up Fate, and is distinguished by randomness, or chance or luck -
three different words that characterize Fortuna. Although randomness is by definition
means arising from virtually nowhere and  disconnected from the existing situation,
this randomness may well be 'synchronous' to the existing, and therefore be cautiously
considered as possible pseudo-randomness.
Fortuna means an event occurring without any connection (randomly) to past events that
influence the event. Past events that influence the current happening can be due to
Karma or Fate. The equivalent concept of Fortuna from India is 'Kismet'  - that is,
a person's luck or fortune that falls or befalls from nowhere and at random - like the
ball that falls on a particular slot in a roulette wheel.  Always keep in mind that the
concept of fortune/misfortune applies to the material (wealth etc) and does not apply
to Spirit. In other words, Fortuna (random chance) does not affect the essence of a
being, and the gyrations or twists and turns of fortune are meant to test the essence
of a being (one's moral response to dramatic shifts of material wealth or privileges).
Apart from a dramatic or sudden change in the material circumstances in a person's

life, the distinction between Fate and Fortuna is blurred and fuzzy, and is very much
dependant on how one interprets or applies these concepts in one's situations and
happenings so as to improve one's grasp and control over oneself for better
understanding of one's own self in relation to the world and reality.

"When Fortune flatters, she does it to betray. Fortune is like glass,
—the brighter the glitter, the more easily broken.
It is more easy to get a favour from fortune than to keep it. "
....Publius Syrus.

The idea that fate has many strange twists and turns and can turn strength
against the strong and bring the mighty down became very pointed in the
calamitous Peloponnesian war. The  Greek tragedian presented evil as a
consequence of necessity whereas Thucydides saw it as a product of
chance and luck, he believes in the accidental nature of things.
The story of Oedipus is this terrible paradox between fate and
responsibility....TTC C. Mathews

may come our way we can always give it meaning and transform it into
something of value.” ― Hermann Hesse

Here’s what we all know, deep down, even though we might wish it weren’t true:
Change is going to happen, whether we like it or not. Some people see random,
unforeseen events as something to fear. I am not one of those people.
To my mind, randomness is not just inevitable; it is part of the beauty of life.
Acknowledging it and appreciating it helps us respond constructively when
we are surprised. Fear makes people reach for certainty and stability, neither
of which guarantee the safety they imply. I take a different approach.
Rather than fear randomness, I believe we can make choices to see it for
what it is and to let it work for us. The unpredictable is the ground on
which creativity occurs.
I’ve heard some people describe creativity as ‘unexpected connections
between unrelated concepts or ideas.’
We can store patterns and conclusions in our heads, but we cannot store
 randomness itself. Randomness is a concept that defies categorization;
by definition, it comes out of nowhere and can’t be anticipated. While we
intellectually accept that it exists, our brains can’t completely grasp it,
so it has less impact on our consciousness than things we can see,
measure, and categorize.
This is the puzzle of trying to understand randomness: Real patterns are
mixed in with random events, so it is extraordinarily difficult for us to
differentiate between chance and skill.  Ed Catmull

4. DESTINY : It is the eventuality - a destination that is bound to be reached or actualized
for an individual as a result of Karma. Again Destiny here is conceived in the positive
sense, not in the negative sense. In the negative connotation, it is fate again that applies.
So Destiny is what results for oneself as a consequence of affirmative or creative or
moral action. It implies a definitive destination which is bound to be reached as a
result of specific affirmative action.
Destiny is the destination for a being that is a sort of place from where a new
beginning will arise - the point where a new cycle of being is initiated. Destiny
can be related to the concept of 'Bhagya' from India. As far as I know there is no
equivalent concept in Greek literature although Socrates and Plato conceived of it,
no specific word was constructed for it. Destiny is where the being's actions will
inevitably take him or place him (or his essence) in the future, whereas fate is the
necessary condition or circumstances in which one finds oneself.

"There is no chance, no destiny, no fate, that can circumvent or hinder or
control the firm resolve of a determined soul"....Ella Wheeler Wilcox

"If you do not create your destiny, you will have your fate inflicted upon you."
........William Irwin Thompson

"I believe in luck and fate and I believe in karma, that the energy you put out in
the world comes back to meet you"......Chris Pine

The unconscious is useless without the human mind. It always seeks its
collective purposes and never your individual destiny. ~Carl Jung

Conclusive Remark: In the process of discovering the significance of the signs
or omens indicated by the circumstances of one's life (Fate) and matching
them to one's talents and abilities (Will), every person can find the right
actions (Karma) that he or she must do for shaping his or her Destiny.

Fate is directly associated with necessity and Destiny is directly associated
with Freedom, in between the two lies responsibility (the right exercise of
one's Will) and thus right action (Karma) even in the face of apparently
random ups and downs of material fortunes (Fortuna).

The primary motive of the Greek hero was not altruism but a sense of honor. The Greek hero
strives to overcome all obstacles so as to fulfill his fate – completely and perfectly – and to do all
that he could possibly do and there is no possibility of being outdone. Competition and excellence
through competition is the centre of the Greek conception of heroism. Thus the hero becomes
the master of his own fate, and thus achieves the honor of self knowledge and self recognition,
and that way he transcends his own fate ( makes his own destiny ), not only in the eyes of others
or the glory of his remembrance, but more so in his own eyes. TTC : Prof Ambrosio

The serpent-dragon figure is a symbol of power and authority in chinese mythology.  It is taken as both
a diety as well as a mythical beast .  The dragon was supposed to control the weather. It was also used as
a symbol of power by the emperor.

As Clara pulled the two ends of the thread together, she said, "Chinese sages of ancient times used to say
that in order to know your worth, you have to slip through the eye of the dragon." She said that those sages
were convinced that the boundless unknown is guarded by an enormous dragon whose scales shine with
a dazzling light. They believed that the courageous seekers who dare to approach the dragon are awed by
its blinding glare; by the power of its tail that with the minutest flicker crushes anything in its way; and by the
dragon's burning breath that turns everything within its reach to ashes. But they also believed that there is a
way to slip by that unapproachable dragon. Clara said that the Chinese sages were confident that by merging
with the dragon's intent, one can become invisible and go through the dragon's eye. "What does that mean,
Clara?" I asked."It means that through the recapitulation we can become empty of thought and desire, which
for those ancient seers meant to become one with the dragon's intent, and therefore invisible."

In Celtic mythology, a massive dragon was symbolic of a power that controlled events and creatures, and
Celtic druidism has many references to such an mythic entity. The druids of the Celtic culture considered
the earth as the body of the dragon and the air or wind as the breath of the dragon.

Following are :- Dialogues from the motion picture Excalibur

"I dreamt of the dragon"
"I have woken him. Can't you see all around you - the dragon's breath ?"
"Mount  your horse. I will transform you."
"But the cliff ? the sea..?"
Your lust will hold you up. You will float on the dragon's breath. Ride !"
( on the breath of the dragon)

"What are you afraid of ?"
"I don't know"
"Shall I tell you what is out there ?"
"Yes, please"
"The dragon. A beast of such power that if you see it whole and complete in a single glance,
it will burn you to cinders."
"Where is it ?"
"Everywhere ! It is everything. It's scales glisten on the bark of the trees. It's roar is heard in
the wind and its forked tongue strikes like......(lightening strikes)...oh like lightening ! "
"How shall I... ? What must I ....?"
"Do nothing. Be still. Sleep. Rest in the arms of the dragon. Dream..."

"Excalibur ! It's part of the dragon, too !"
"Oh, yes....Oh, You learn quickly. That's good"

All Native North American Peoples attach special significance to the eagle, and its feathers. The eagle flies higher
and sees well than any other bird. Its perspective is therefore different from those of us held close to the earth. So, also,
does our Creator have a different perspective of what occurs below in this world of physical things in which human
kind resides. The eagle also spends more time in the element of father sky than the other birds and father sky is the
element of the spirit.
The eagle is a symbol of truth, power and freedom, as it roams the sky. Its wings represent the balance needed between
male and female, each one dependant upon these strengths and abilities of the other.
The eagle was given the honor of carrying the prayers of man between the world of earth and the world of spirit where
our creator and the grandfathers reside. Therefore, when one holds the eagle feather, one must speak the truth in as
positive a way as one can, for the ear of our creator is that much closer to the feather of the eagle. ....... Ken Saunders

There is nothing here that is not Zeus....Sophocles

Zeus was director of Olympus, but he was responsible to the great board of directors of the
world, the moira, an invisible influence, the “Faceless Corporation” of Olympus, so even Zeus
could not do what he wanted. ~Carl Jung,

[WEB INTERACTIVE NOTE - 2013 -Firstly, Homer's works cannot be called either as fiction or
non-fiction but have to be seen as belonging in the twilight zone, just as mythology cannot be
called either truth or fiction. The concept of truth in the post-modern era has been reduced into
mere scientifically established fact, and present attitudes have reduced all mythology into fantasy.

Secondly, these poetic stories are the best illustrations of the mythology behind the Greek world
view and the most important concepts of the Greek mythology, and these are: Ananke - the (divine?)
force of necessity which sets the conditions for the gods (of Olympus - Zeus being the chief executor)
to execute the script of necessity and to ensure the order of the (Greek) world where each man is
handed out his due fate (Moira) and given that fate, the human has the choice, the capability, the
talent to achieve excellence or Arete - which was the most important concept which postulated why
humans were created or existed. Arete - the art that overcame or transcended fate.
(Art is a revolt against fate - Malraux)

In the Odyssey the most crucial hint of the entire story is that humans have an existence that is
even more profound than the gods because humans had potentialities that even gods
(controllers of the world) did not have.

Perhaps it is on the basis of these concepts as well as introduction of new concept of Suke (Soul) that
brought forth the metaphysics of Plato in which a new dimension to inherent human potential was
introduced into the literate world - the existence of beings (human) that were even more privileged
than the gods by being both mortal and immortal through the exercise of moral choice.

"You are mistaken if you think that a man who is worth anything ought to spend his time weighing up
the prospects of life and death. He has only one thing to consider in performing any action, and that is
whether he is acting rightly or wrongly." Socrates

The two classics of Homer laid the grounds on which further great works of literature
could take place.]

WebInt2013: Is free will limited? free will is indeed limited, as one cannot even conceive of unlimited
free will except in pure imagination or controlled/lucid dreams or synthetic experience like
that of psychedelics.
The counter-part of free will is fate (Greek: Moira), which the gods enforce and execute according to
the script of necessity (Greek: Ananke), but fate itself is not without twists and turns ( Italian: Fortuna)
 - and this is the additional 'job' of the gods - to add or experiment with 'twists and turns' to fates of
"Heroes", which cannot be really called whims and fancies of the gods( although appear to be so),
because such twists and turns must still be congruous with the main script of Ananke.

Demiurge A Platonic deity who orders or fashions the material world out of chaos.

Demiurge A deity in Gnosticism, Manichaeism, and other religions who creates the
material world and is often viewed as the originator of evil.

The demiurge is a concept from the Platonic, Neopythagorean, Middle Platonic, and
Neoplatonic schools of philosophy for an artisan-like figure responsible for the fashioning
and maintenance of the physical universe. The term was subsequently adopted by the Gnostics.
Although a fashioner, the demiurge is not necessarily thought of as being the same as the creator
figure in the familiar monotheistic sense because both the demiurge itself plus the material from
which the demiurge fashions the universe are considered either uncreated and eternal, or the
product of some other being, depending on the system....Wiki

Gnosticism presents a distinction between the highest, unknowable God and the demiurgic
“creator” of the material. Several systems of Gnostic thought present the Demiurge as antagonistic
to the will of the Supreme Being: his act of creation occurs in unconscious semblance of the divine
model, and thus is fundamentally flawed, or else is formed with the malevolent intention of
entrapping aspects of the divine in materiality. Thus, in such systems, the Demiurge acts as
a solution to the problem of evil....Wiki

THE DEVIL in Christian Religion

"Besides, civilization, which now licks us all smooth, has taught even the devil tricks ;
the northern fiends'  become a  lost cause - where are his horns these days, his tails,
his claws ? ........Goethe

Whilst mainstream Judaism contains no overt concept of a devil, Christianity and Islam have variously
regarded the Devil as a rebellious fallen angel or demon that tempts humans to sin, if not commit evil
deeds himself. In these religions – particularly during periods of division or external threat – the Devil
has assumed more of a dualistic status commonly associated with heretics, infidels, and other unbelievers.
As such, the Devil is seen as an allegory that represents a crisis of faith, individualism, free will,
wisdom and enlightenment....Wiki

"Jesus was tempted by the devil for forty days - and all this time he ate nothing. Then the devil took
him up and showed him in a second, all the kingdoms of the world saying "I will give you all this
power and all this wealth - it has all been handed over to me and I can give it to anyone I choose.
all thiswill be yours if you worship me."
"Simon! Simon! Behold! Satan is desired (designed!) to test you all - to separate the good from
the bad, just as the farmer separates the wheat from the chaff. But I have prayed for you Simon
so that your faith may not fail, and when you have turned back to me, you must strengthen your
brethren." The Jesus Film

Paul: Satan is "The God of This World"........2 Corinthians 4:4  (NLT)

“The devil has put a penalty on all things we enjoy in life. Either we suffer in our health,
or we suffer in our soul, or we get fat.”―Albert Einstein

If ever you have the rare opportunity to speak with the devil, then do not forget to confront him in all
seriousness. He is your devil after all. The devil as the adversary is your own other standpoint;
he tempts you and sets a stone in your path where you least want it. ~Carl Jung

In [the Middle Ages] they spoke of the devil, today we call it a neurosis. ~Carl Jung

Dr LILLY's  E. C. C. O.

(Remark: Dr Lilly being a scientist by training is a little too technical in this and some of the
words or phrases used by him can be quite misleading like 'controlled coincidence workers'  -
making it sound like all humans are workers in some cosmic factory. Therefore I have emphasized
words like 'somewhat'  )

"There exists a Cosmic Control Center (C.C.C.) with a Galactic substation called Galactic Coincidence
(G.C.C.). Within which is the Solar System Control Unit (S.S.C.U.), within which is the Earth
Coincidence Control Office
(E.C.C.O.). The assignments of responsibilities from the top to the bottom
of this system of control is by a set of regulations, which translated by E.C.C.O. for humans is
somewhat as follows:"

To all humans : If you wish to control coincidences in your own life on the planet Earth, we will
cooperate and determine those coincidences for you under the following conditions:
1) You must know/assume/simulate our existence in ECCO
2) You must be willing to accept our responsibility for control of your coincidences.
3) You must exert your best capabilities for your survival programs and your own development as an
advancing/advanced member of ECCO's earth side corps of controlled coincidence workers. You are
expected to use your best intelligence in this service
4) You are expected to expect the unexpected every minute, every hour of every day and of every night.
5) You must be able to maintain conscious/thinking/ reasoning no matter what events we arrange to
happen to you. Some of these events will seem cataclysmic/catastrophic/overwhelming: remember
stay aware, no matter what happens/apparently happens to you.
6) You are in our training program for life: there is no escape from it. We (not you ) control the long-term
coincidences; you (not we) control the shorter-term coincidences by your own efforts.
7) Your major mission on earth is to discover/create that which we do to control the long-term
coincidence patterns: you are being trained on Earth to do this job.
8) When your mission on planet Earth is completed, you will no longer be required to remain/return there.
9) Remember the motto passed to us (from GCC via SSCU):

"Cosmic Love is Absolutely Ruthless and Highly Indifferent:
it teaches its lessons whether you like/dislike them or not."

Updated 2013 : Cosmic love is the essential emotional  fusion of terror, wonder and
awe, it is utterly unlike physical love or pleasure for it teaches us what it means
to be a human being who values the challenges of life above everything else.
